About.

Hi! I'm so glad you stopped by to check out my blog! My name is Joy and this here is my little hobby. What started out as a way for me to make all my time spent in the kitchen seem more productive has turned into an outlet for me to share my passion for eating whole foods and a plant-based diet. These days everyone is confused about what they should be eating and understandably so considering we're told a hundred different nutrition philosophies each day. But here's the secret: we're all different, no one diet will work perfectly for everyone. It's up to us as individuals to learn to listen to our bodies and figure out what nourishes us best. That being said, there is one way of eating that has never failed: consuming a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and as little processed food as possible. It's my aim to show people that eating healthy doesn't mean surviving off celery sticks and rice cakes. You can have it both ways: eating food that is both nutritious and delicious.

 A little about me...

By day I am a Barista at a little coffee cart in downtown Austin. It's awesome. I basically get paid to be outside, talk with people, befriend local birds and make coffee.

I have no formal training when it comes to making food and creating recipes, unless you count the year I spent working in a camp kitchen and the hours upon hours I have spent experimenting in my own kitchen. I am not a dietitian or a nutritionist, but I am in the process of becoming a Certified Holistic Health Counselor. Plus I'm a total dork when it comes nutrition and read those books for fun (for some of my favorites check the link on the right appropriately titled "Books"). So please don't take anything I have to say as law, explore for yourself what works for you.
